Default Assembly Plant Paint Suppliers

Has it ever been published in any Pontiac document who the original paint supplier was at Norwood and Van Nuys for 1970?

Obviously RM, PPG, DuPont and others all had color formulations available, but I'm trying to find who the actual supplier was for the paint applied to the body.

To make a guess, I'd say PPG.

Default Ditzler?

Ditzler may have been a possible supplier?

My understanding is that it was PPG (of which Ditzler is a registered trademark)

ditto hotcat and functional, pretty sure it was ditzler as the brand name (& bulk pricing) through ppg. My brother and i used to joke about it sinc e our last name is only 1 lettter different. As far as documentation goes, best bet would be to contact ppg.

I thought it was Lucite enamel which is a trademark of Dupont?

Always bought Dupont paint to touch up the cars.

Thanks, guys. I've tried the companies to no avail.

I've found bulletins that clarify it during the later 70s, and certain suppliers supplied certain plants. If there's anything out there for the early 70s, I'd be interested in seeing it.

Rinshed-Mason was the original supplier for Pontiacs lacquer paint. Pretty sure I am correct on that comment. Ditzler was a PPG product, R-M eventually was bought by one of the big paint companies, but if my memory is correct R-M was a supplier to GM going back to the early days of GM..I am sure there is stuff on the net about R-M and their history with GM.. And I was told this by the local PPG automotive paint shop ..

I am unsure if purchasing was consistant across divisions. In the 80s I worked at the Flint Buick City complex and DuPont was the paint supplier. DuPont had a plant just down the block for local supply.
This changed in the late 80s / early 90s as water based paints replaced laquer and the DuPont plant closed.
