Pontiac powered Dirt Sprinter...
I saw this on Bangshifts site and thought I would share. Don't know anything other than pics were taken at Cincinnati Ohio Autorama. Very interesting intake set up.

In the late 1950s, one of the Unsers drove a Pontiac powered Sprint car that looked similar to that at Pikes Peak.

My dad and grandfather ran a Pontiac powered sprint car in the 60's.

Looks like an old Kurtis or Watson chassis.

Back in the mid 60s there was a Pontiac powered sprint car in west central PA. It was 389 powered, owned by a guy that ran a wrecking yard, Bill Patterson, Patterson Auto Wrecking. It was driven by a guy named Cal Hull, I only saw the car race once, and not sure how successfully they campaigned it.
It was a very well built car, used top notch parts, unlike the homemade parts on the car in the pictures. Nothing wrong with home built if you're a low dollar operation, or there are no parts made for your application. I made many, many, parts for my dirt cars because they weren't chevys, and parts simply weren't made for my applications being a rather rare application of Pontiac oval track cars. |

Wrong word. Fubar means unworkable. That home-brew injector may have worked well.

Yes..that!
Thanks. I should have copied the photo as you did. I was not commenting on the design nor craftsmanship but was applauding the owner's sense of humor about his ingenuity. The car is fascinating and I admire both the creativity and the effort. |

F***** up beyond all recognition. That's the term we used on the FD after cutting people out of vehicles...
