Default Washing machine recomendations?

My washer is finally giving up the ghost. It's rusting on top of the basket and the agitator is starting to flop around. I was looking at a Samsung (Great reviews???) but after all the horror stories on their fridges I'm hesitant. I'm leaning towards a large capacity one since my wife over loads.

Buy a unit that has dials!
DO not buy one with all electronic controls!!
Had 2 sets of new fancy crap neither lasted!
Went to an old fashion style with knobs it has lasted longer than both of the fancy sets !

My son is an appliance tech. He says no one wants to work on LG or Samsung because they are poorly engineered crap. Go with a Whirlpool or a Maytag (which is now made by Whirlpool).

My brother and his wife recently bought a Speed Queen TC5 washer and DR5 dryer. He said they've been working great, and are made in Wisconsin. They're a return to basics, with knobs for controls.

Frigidares are crap. I’d recommend skipping the front loaded washers. Their capacity is tiny. When I finally dump this Frigidaire, i’ll replace it with a top loading, no agitator, one. (Probably in a few years once the economy recover from all this stuff.)

I got the same story from my appliance tech. He says LG and Samsung should stick to what they know best, TVs.

I bought a Whirlpool washer a few years ago. Replaced a 20 year old Whirlpool. As mentioned above, buy the simpler lower cost models. Less can go wrong and they still clean your clothes.

Our last one was a Whirlpool and could have fixed it (transmission gear was broken) but was rusting on top of bucket. It lasted 15 yrs. and had an agitator. Here is the replacement...

Made it easier to wash comforters. I like it. Last year almost replaced the Whirlpool gas dryer, but it was a $25 electric magnetic gas valve coils.

We have a samsung- about 4 years old. The control panel has already gone out once.

We got the high capacity one- but I would warn against it. My wife can’t reach the bottom to get the clothes out

Speed Queen would also be a great washer. Maytag is now part of Whirlpool, as is Amana.

We have a Samsung washer/dryer and I can't wait for the time to come to get rid of them. The washer is a high capacity top load and like has been said here earlier my wife can barely reach the bottom of it. We had one of the exploding Samsungs and they replaced it. I have had to replace the internal water distribution block. They look good but aren't worth a darn. And, they don't really clean the laundry, just gets the smell out.

We had our 28 year old Maytag finally kill it's transmission and die two years ago. I am stupid loyal to brands that have treated me well. I know Maytag is Whirlpool and a dozen other brands, but they are American at least. So I bought a high efficiency top loader Maytag. I have a well, and not wasting water seemed like a good idea. After 2 years, it's working as well as day 1. I have to say though that it is really noisy, all kinds of bonks, clunks, clicks, ratchet noise, you name it. I also have no understanding of how it actually cleans the clothes. It doesn't have an aggitator and it never seems to have over 4-5 inches of water in it max. Yet the clothes come out clean and nearly dry. Magic, I guess. It does have a 10 year mechanical warranty which is pretty strong.
