i know some of my car's history; if anyone knows more or previous owners, feel free to share.
Built in Baltimore in August or September 1969, was pepper green, saddle interior and 400 4 speed. It ended up on a used car lot on Hancock rd (elite motors?) in Austin TX 1992. Was purchased by Pat Sullivan and copied to his other orbit orange car and used in the movie, "dazed and confused". Sold shortly before the premiere and I believe went to someone in Houston. He then sold it to a gentleman in Louisiana and I'm told the interior was in the trunk at that point. I bought it in 1997, finished it and have had it ever since. Always curious who owned it in Houston, as it had its original engine during filming. Seems it disappeared after Pat sold it.

I always wondered what happened to the 'Dazed and Confused' GTO!!
Thanks for posting! I had seen some speculative posts several years ago. Do you have any paperwork to prove it was used in the movie (and to what extent - as I'd wager several were outfitted the same and used in different roles)? The opening sequence in that movie made it an instant classic; An Orbit Orange Judge prowling a HS parking lot.... I wished I lived back then.

I've had lunch with the owner that provided them at the time; I learn more each time I speak with him. I was trying to meet up earlier again last week but my schedule has been crazy and constantly changing. It appeared quite a bit. Kind of depended on what would run at the time, as it was August in TX and everything wanted to vapor lock. This one was a 4 speed and was stalled quite a bit by the actors. For most interior scenes it was just strapped to a trailer. I do have documentation on it. Actually, both cars shared the same movie contract and insurance policy...

I have only been able to trace back one of my cars histories. I am the fifth owner of this Bonneville and I bought it in 2014 and have done a total restoration on it. I bought it from a member on here who was the fourth owner and in the glove box there was an old registration from a previous owner. I Googled his name and was able to contact him and he provided me with other previous owners. He bought the car in 1980 from an elderly lady with a beehive hairdoo who bought the car from her neighbor man who bought the car new. The car never left the Raleigh North Carolina area until I bought it. The third owner provided me with pictures of the car when he drove it for his wedding in 1982. Now if I could only find the dealership where it was originally purchased that would be great. With this information I was able to solve one mystery with the car. The passenger's side door trim fasteners were different than the drivers side. I was told that the original owner had a collision and had to have the door repaired. I am pretty sure that the entire door was replaced because there is no indication of damage or body filler. Fun facts to know. |

My recent purchase. 1971 400 4speed with a 3.90 rear. I'm the forth owner. Have copies of all the previous titles and have been in touch with all the previous owners. Picked up from the showroom floor of Gnagey Olds Pontiac Cadillac in Pa on 4/8/71. (I even found the orignal sale ad from the dealer on a local paper internet site dated 4/3/71). Car was then sold to the original owners cousin in 1975 with 38k on the clock. The car was then sold around 1980 with 47480mi to the 3rd owner. The 3rd owner only put 800mi on it and had it parked with hopes of a "Judge" conversion. SO GLAD HE DIDNT GET AROUND TO IT. The remained in his garage until it was bought by ME! I got it with 48215mi this year........ cragar s/s wheels were installed by the original owner a few days after he purchased the car and they still have the old Kelly bias ply tires that he put on with the wheels. The car is numbers matching and very original. I love it!

Here is the link to the story on my 1971 Trans Am (post #49). It has a cool history since it was raced early in it's life. I'm the fourth owner, and the car presently has a little over 17,000 original miles on it.
