Default inline tube brake line fit

Hi all,

Finally getting around to replacing rear brake lines. Didn't really need it but I like headaches I suppose. Now that I am reassmbling it doesn't appear these replacement lines fit all that well. Please see pic. This is looking at the drivers side axle behind backing plate. Line is attached to wheel cylinder. Is this misalignment typical and is it something I am expected to manually bend/fix? Seems like the line needs to be setup to run lower on the rearend so the OEM clamps can grab it properly. I'd really prefer not to take this off as getting these lines threaded is not fun either.

I can of course call inline tube but just wondering if there is something I'm missing. and BTW, I purchased the inline tube set after having numerous fit problems with a front line set I purchased from Ames. I don't quite get how the whole point of custom brake lines is so they fit like OEM and then they don't.

Thanks all!

I think its typical. I bought from Right Stuff and Inline Tube. The Inline Tube fits much better but still required a little tweaking.
Right Stuff must think all GM cars are Chevys since that is what I received for my 68 engine crossmember tubing. On the bright side it fit my El Camino.

I was told that they sometime require some adjustment. Sometimes they get tweaked in packaging or in freight
and do require adjustment. And if you are using stainless lines, make sure you loosen and tighten the flare nut to make it seat.
back it off and tighten it numerous times to make the flare seat on cylinder or it will leak, even normal lines sometimes require this.

Thanks guys. Every time I do a job like this I wish I had just done a frame off. This would be so much easier with the body off and everything clean.

They only fold the front to rear line.
