Default Dougs Headers D569

Anyone try to use Doug's D569 Headers on a 63 or 64 GP?
I will be installing a 1973 455 with Kauffman D Port Heads
in my 64 GP. 4 Speed Manual with 65 and later bellhousing
and modified crossmember with 65 and later mount
I would think the passenger side would slip right in.
Not sure on drivers side. Probably steering box issues

Thanks

Not sure about the driver's side, but I know the oil filter housing frequently needs an adapter to clear headers on our '64 full-size cars. Otherwise, the header goes right through where the oil filter housing would be. It may be different with you using a later model 455, but something to think about.

I would check out the Hand brothers 64 GP. Whats wrong with the factory Long Branches, Ram Air Restoration will open them up for you if you want...

Default Long Branch Manifolds

Not a thing wrong with Long Branch
Had them on the car 20 years ago.
Just want to get the most out of the
engine combination I have and tube
headers will do that.

If the Dougs Headers fit the car,
I would use them.
Don't want to start cutting and modifying

Thanks

I would like to know if any headers fit my 62 GP as well. I’m sure many people have tried this before. Thanks

I helped a friend install Mad Dog headers on his 455 in a 64 Catalina. I hear the guy that made them is semi-retired but will possibly still make a pair. That said, the fit left a LOT to be desired. Driver side header needed a lot of massaging to fit properly and they both point down at the rear quite a bit rather than being parallel with the car. We ended up using a GTO trans crossmember widened to replace the stock one for the exhaust clearance humps and the end result was acceptable. Still, he will be the first to say that if he had it all to do again he would just get long branch manifolds and call it good.
