Ken, Here’s a photo of that block sitting in my ‘63 Safari for fitment purposes. Note the rear where a tap broke off while it was being machined.
I have a lot more pics somewhere if you’re interested. Pre machining as well. Rob

Well, that’s not my block I guess judging from the non repair at the rear.
Guess I assumed. Sorry. Carrey on.

I purchased the block in my pics from Gregg so I`m sure it`s 1 of the 2 he had. Maybe your block is in the White T/A he built.

After reading in the latest Smoke Signals about the museum in Pontiac IL having "an experimental Mickey Thompson Pontiac block, number 8 of 12 such castings" I'm puzzled. I emailed Bob Tripolsky at the museum with my questions, but no reply yet. Through all my research since 1985 (when I bought my first block from Mickey), including phone conversations with Mickey and Fritz, the only aluminum Pontiac blocks associated with Mickey were the few that PMD had cast by Harvey Aluminum (my two were from the initial 6 that went from PMD to Mickey).
Anybody here know what that museum block is?

Jack,if you go back and look the block in my early engine it was #14 and the only one I have ever seen or confirmed that had the 61-64 bellhousing pattern. That was a virtually complete engine less rotating assm.Tom

Herbs is # 10 but is a 55-60 bellhousing pattern.Although it is stamped 370 like mine im sure its a 3in main which would make it a 389.Tom

Tom- where do you get the "#14" on the block you had? And where does the "#10" come from on Herb's block? As I recall, my two blocks just have the "D4509x" and "370" numbers on them.

Jack,if you look back at post 59 Mike posts the museum block is stamped V370al-3,in post 69 my block shows V370al-14 and in post 80 Herbs is stamped V370al-10.Mine is the highest number and is the only post 60 bell pattern? Those kind of stamping follow history of all the RA V engineering blocks I have had.Tom

Thanks Tom. I had never paid any attention to the dash-number after the "370". I see that the second block I got is "370-11". I've milled away the face of the first block, and can't find my notes on what its dash-number was.

This has been quite a history lesson of Pontiac rarities. Big Thanks to tom s, Jack Gifford and a few others for sharing their knowledge and pictures of Pontiac mystery engines here and in the boosted thread. I'm just happy to own a set of those M/T rocker covers. All this others stuff is jaw dropping!!!

One of my blocks is on its way to be machines, waiting for a firm number to get it done.Big expense infront is main caps, main studs and liners.I figure about $1600 before a chip is made.Still might end up being pedestals for coffee tables!Tom

Tom, PM me with your specific needs as far as studs, nuts and washers for the mains. I have allot of 1/2" studs in various lengths. If I have what you need, I will donate to the cause. I need stud overall length , and length from the end where the coarse thread stops to the top of stud. I will see what I have.

Thanks but I have no clue.I will be using Program Engineering standard front and rear caps along with their 3 center 4 bolt caps. The last block I did that needed all 5 caps I used PRW main studs and my machine shop was happy with them.Tom

Nothing wrong with Pioneer hardware. Understand the deal with buying a kit. The studs I have are all loose, which is why I would need dimensions. Looks like a nice kit there.
