1971 HO intake manifolds
While freshening up the 455 HO, I see that the threads for the carb are pretty shot so I thought maybe a reproduction intake would be a quick fix. I see that the quality of the Parts Place units is pretty poor but I see another advertised as being by a place called Restoparts and looks like it is polished. Anyone have any info on these or is it more china junk? Thanks.

Why not just install HeliCoil insert threads?

Yes. After looking into the few options on this part I think that would be the way to go.. Thanks for the input.

thought I would try the Timesert brand of thread repair inserts but I can't seem to find the specs for the bolt hole size on the intake manifold. Anyone have that info readily at hand? Anyone else try the Timeserts for repairing stripped carb bolt holes? Thanks.

The carburetor fastening bolts are UNC 5/16"-18. Aluminum intakes uses studs for the rear holes.

Have the Timesert repair kit on the way. Now, what's the trick for removing steel pipe plugs in the water passage for the sending unit install? I just destroy the allen head on the plug and it becomes impossible after that. Drill it out?
