Default Formula wheels crumbling (reproduction)

Is there a process to have Formula style wheels refurbished? I have two reproduction wheels, one in a 70 GTO and one in a 79 TA. Both are starting to split and crumble after about 6 years. Do I need to buy new ones or can these be repaired?

It would be more expensive to have them repaired than it costs to buy a new one.

If you want a longer lasting one, switch to the leather wrapped ones. Not 'correct', but they last a long time.

I may do that, I wonder if I could have these wrapped in leather?

Good idea, thanks

Maybe, but I bet it will cost more than a repop one already done in leather.

The one I got from our host is nice, and was the LeCarra one, A249DC, and was $199.00.

There's a note that 'Various leather and spoke colors are available on special order basis'.

I've had one on my 'bird for like 20 years, still looks new, with only a couple nicks in the spokes coating, so they last.

I was at the upholstery shop today dropping off my 72 TA to get a headliner and asked about wrapping the steering wheels. He said about 200 a wheel to wrap them. Not sure if I would rather wrap these or buy the new ones.

I figured it would cost about the same. If you're not going for original, get the new one, they are really nice. No question if it was done correctly, and like I said, they last.
