Hah, not really. I suppose I could have taken it to a garage....but I hate paying some random old guy like 40 dollars per hour to screw around with my car.....and come up with some crazy sh#$ like....oh, and I filled your brake light fluid too, so that'll be another 100 dollars.

Are you sure it will leak? I mean, I probably know where you mean, at the manifold that's got one bolt holding it on, but the way it's flanged it's still covering the hole and it's tight. I dunno, seemed ok to me.

I would spend a couple of bucks and get a bonafide exhaust hangar for the system. Your car will thank you....

The simple solution to that is, don't pay for anything the mechanic didn't cover with you before "fixing" it. By law they have to go over it with you before repairs are made. And $40 an hour is cheap, especially if the job is done right. You wasted the better part of a weekend and still ended up with a n*gger rigged repair that won't last and will definately leak again very soon.

"A man's gotta' know his limitations"...Clint Eastwood said that once or twice in an old Dirty Harry movie...you should heed it. If you can't do it yourself correctly, and you can't get help to show you how to do it correctly, then pay a professional.

I will next time, I swear! The brakes are squeaking, so I'm gonna buy new pads for the front, and my dad can walk me through that. It's pretty simple and doesn't take long to change brake pads. Thanks for the advice fellas.

Tone.

Pick up the front brake hardware too (pins, bushings, o-rings, etc.). This will help the new pads last longer. Inspect the front brake hoses too! If they are original, it might be time to replace them.
