I have a 73 GA 455 had it since 1977 it was my first car. In the process of buying/collecting parts for starting to restore. These are great cars but hard to find some of the parts for a one year model.

Brian, I remember you were going to sell the Can Am, did you change your mind? I think I would hold onto it if I were you, at least for a while.

not a bad count for the "A" bodies.
I am wondering who has had theirs the longest? I see "73GA455" and "fiedlerh" are both owners since 1977. Thats a long time guys. Anybody out there had their's since 1973?????

Count me among the 73-77 A body lovers too. I've had a 73 G/A, 3 73 GTOs, a 73 Lemans, a 77 Can Am, and the one I miss most, a 74 Lemans GT Sport Coupe I bought in 1980. It was White with the Black/Red side stripes, a black bucket seat/no console interior, and a Pontiac 350 4bbl with factory duals and a 3 speed floor shift tranny. It also had Rally IIs w/o trim rings. I'm still looking for a 73-77 GT to restore. Dave P.S. I am also a fan of the 73-77 Grand Prixs too (owned 14 of those too).

Count me in too 75 lemans "cup edition " for canada only sorta like on the a bodysite pic section but should be deep blood red with white not orange with a maple on the fender , mine is one of three cup cars that i have seen that came with real pontiac power, it's been off the road now for 15 years , i can't wait to drive it in about three years or so. mike.

I suppose my GA would go for the right price too, just pretty unlikely I would ever get it.... don't ask 'cause I don't know what that price would be!!

I got a 73 LeMans around here somewhere....
Squirejohn, does my Grand Dad buying it new count? I was only born a month before the car...tough to get a bank loan with my lack of credit back then.

Thats a good question!
I take it that the car is still in the family. I would put this question to the rest on the roll call. I would be interested in the others thoughts. Is this Lemans the 12.5 in a quarter? Does your front end come up much? I really want to go all out on my Grand AM but I fear that I may have body twist do to the after market T tops. But hey can always add more structural support. squire

Indeed sir, it is still in the family. And yes, this is the 12.5 runner, and recently got a better 12.1 out of it.
Front end is super light in this thing at speed (or at least feels that way) for a lot of reasons, so I'm not sure its the best judge. Bottom line, is that if your GA sits stock height, I think youll find it will handle better than my LeMans. You can tell in the photos this one sits a lot higher than most 73s. It's got no inner fenderwells (so theres a lot of turbulence), no front sway bar, and I never got to run the manual steering yet at the track yet. (the old power box with no pump was too slow and sloppy to get a good feel for the track so car felt terrible) As far as structural integrity goes, I know the frames bend easy in these cars, so its hard to say if running 11s in a T-Topped car would be a good thing to do, especially one with non factory tops. I think you could easily do it with nitrous, so long as its a progressive type setup, or at least not something that smacks it all down at the line.

Thanks guys, I was just curious. I see some overlap in members between PY and ABodySite.
Mike, your post reminds me - I have a local woman that has an all original, stock CanCup car. Not sure if it's a 400P or 350C. I need pics of her car... Chief, aka "Bob F"

Is it too late to be counted? I had a '73 G/A from '78 to '84. I love that body style. My wife, who is a bit younger than me, asks what I see in a boat like that. Hopefully, I'll get another (car, that is). I also liked the Chevy Lagunas and Olds 442s from '73-'77.

I have a '73 GTO in Livermore CA, getting ready (mentally) to put it up for sale. I love it but I have WAY too many cars (acceptance is the first step of the solution!)

There is an overlap on the sites frequented.
I like P.Y. and the Grand Am regestry. I dont do the A body sight to often as they cover all A bodies. PY and The G.A reg is where to be. They are good Pontiac forums. Grand Am owners are a rare breed. When I tell most people I have a Grand AM they think of those little econo style Pontiacs. squire

The A-body sight is VERY DOMINATED by Pontiacs, its rare to see anyone talk about anything else.

Very easy story from me. In March of '77 , a Can-Am was being unloaded from the transport truck at Slocum Pontiac near Milwaukee. Just happened to be driving by. Went into the dealership (I had just turned 18) and put 50 dollars down to hold the car.Had no idea how to pay the $6950.00 balance, but it all worked out fine. Still have the car( my first car!) and drive it as often as I can. Planning a big party when it turns 30!

OK, I too should post more here. I have a 1977 Lemans Enforcer. Would like to find a 1973 Grand Am 4-speed - 4 door. Any body got one out there for sale?
