I've noticed that also. When I'm able to park the 2 of them together I represent them as "The begining ('64) and the end ('77) of the musclecar era".
As you can tell I don't agree with others that the musclecar era ended in '72.
My eventual goal is to find a really good example of a CA with the firethorn interior, buckets & console to be a matching bookend to the GTO.

Bob

P.S. to those that have been asking ..... Yes, the blue interior in this CA has been documented by PHS.

Bob, I didn't even notice the blue until now! WOW, that's rare. It seems I have your matching bookend for the 64. It's not for sale, because it took me 20 years to get it!! I think if you count the 77-79 W72 Trans Am as a muscle car, that would be the end of the line. Great looking cars you have David

That Can AM looks rerally nice w/blue interrior.
I did not know they made them with the blue.
Now I really, really want one.
Then I can be a GTO / Can Am owner too!
Nice cars. Great story on that 64 too!

Hi John ... Thanks !!!!

To date this is the only known CA with a blue interior.

There may have been others, but of the ones that still exist, are registered
with CA registry, or that have been seen on the street, this seems to be the only one. Was this the only one made? We'll never know unless someone else comes forward or if PHS would research all 1300 CAs. With todays technology I don't know why that can't be done. Seems like all they can do for right now is be able to look up something with a provided VIN.
Its seems the most popular interiors is of course the firethorns, (full red or red interior with white seats) then black (full black or with white seats) then White ( full white or white with red or black seats) then there's the few with buckskin (tan). I've only seen full buckskin, never a combo (YET). Then of couse there's mine. There was one more color (green) offered that year but I seriously doubt anybody would have ordered that.

There's more to the '64 story. As you recall we got this out of the U_STORE-IT so we had no history from the original owner. Over the past 20+ years, while at car shows, we've been approched by people who've recognized the car. Although still sketchy, with thier input we've been able to put some very interesting history together. To put that together here would take up a WHOLE 'nother page or 2.

When you say you "really really want one", does that mean you really wan a Can Am or a Can Am w/blue int'r?

I really do want one. Passed on one last year for $10,000.
I was in the middle of a Grand am project. Now, I'm finishing a GTO.
So yes, I really want one, but, I really, really would like to have the blue interior. Wife keeps asking where would I keep one more car. Told her, I can rent space for the winter. She just rolls her eyes. At least she is supportive of the car thing. Next one should really be for her. I just cant swing a 67 blue 427 Corvette right now. She does have good taste.

Can you elaborate on the stripes, who made them?
Can more be obtained?

A mobile graphics company here in Houston . came to house pulling there workshop tooka digital picture . loaded it there. took some measurement . Gave me differint options I added the yellow , and the turn down effect . They printed it out on the spot then applied it . I know they still have the file . And I could have them make and ship . If intrested I will contact them .The usaully do speed boats and 18 wheelers . Solid colors only. they will airbrush onto solid colors but they said doesnt last as long

sdx455, your stripes look like they were well made and applied. It sounds like you had original stripes on your car to begin with and that the graphics guy was able to copy the original shape and dimensions of them and may still have the originals on file? There are several of us over on www.abodysite.com that have been hoping somebody could make original 73 gto stripes.

My car had them originaly. I had pictures of them with a ruler next to them prior to removing them for paint . But they didnt need them . I was shocked when they applied them how good they came out . they also showed me them in original style mine where black and red only without the turn down .. They can make them . They come peel and stick . So they can be shipped . I will call them . let you know

Can't get onto the UltimateGTO site no matter what I try from this work computer. SDX455, could you post a picture here? I'd really like to see how those stripes look...

WW3, that interior looks fantastic! And a 4-speed...

Thanks for getting them posted . The stripes are high quality if I send you a close up they start out very skinny at very sharp point . Also they end about 16 " farther then stock . I was thinking about making then end tribal or flamming , but decided not to stray to far from stock .. The Gulf coast GTO club Event yesterday was alot of fun .They Put my car on there annual Tee shirt came out great ,The car took 2nd place for its class . The drifting show was unbelievable . Wanted to run mine down that track .

Congrats on the 2nd place in your class!
My car should be done this weekend.
I have changed engines, and repainted. All work has been done on the weekends, so it takes a little longer.

Cant get enough of the 73 GTo's
