Check over at the Poncho Pride forum, there's a guy in Chicago who has a decent one. Has some rust (he claims mostly on the doors) but doesn't look too bad.

There's one in Maine (has the 403) that would need some interior work, and doesn't have original striping.

I know of a guy in PA who has two that he wants to sell, but haven't heard from him lately. Should call him and get more info and pictures.

I'll check up on the info I have and see what I can find out.

Got mine this month from Oregon. Had been a local car. No bondo that I can see, needs some floorpan work. Body has a few spots of rust, but nothing major. Fairly rust-free other than that. Mechanically, in very good shape. Interior is the worst of it. Paid $5500 for it (see 'TropicDave's Can Am Report' for a detailed rundown on the car).

If you don't find a Can Am by the time of the reunion, come anyway! At least you'll have a great many Can Ams to look at, and lots of owners to chat with.

Very cool. Keep us informed as to how it's going. We always like to hear the stories of 'a boy and his A-body'...

I have to get ahold of the guy with the 2 CAs anyway, he has some NOS parts I'd like to talk to him about...will keep everyone posted.

I sold one of my Mopars tonight, and I am putting a deposit down on a very nice Can Am. Hopefully I will have it here in a couple of weeks.

I have a site in mind but wanted to see how much interest there would be before I proceed on. This much advanced notice would give people plenty of time to complete there projects. To my knowledge there has never been a mass gathering of Can Ams in the double digits since the days of Motortown. I would like to see this become a reality in 2007. What do you guys think? Let me know.

Verne Howard

Any updates on this?

Thumbs up

Norwalk would be nice.. The POCI convention would be too far away.

POCI convention also would not be as large of a draw.

I have 5 weeks of vacation next year, and I would like to plan ahead so that I can get the proper amount of days off. It looks like I will have a very nice Can Am to drive out to where ever the meet will be.

I think what needs to happen here is that one or 2 people need to arbitrarily make the decisions as to location and dates. Then get with the location host to make those arrangements too.

Guys like me, are just idling by, waiting to react to the plans so we can make arrangements for next year.

We are never going to come to a conscensous on location and it would probably serve everyone if we tie it to a regional or national Pontiac meet so as to not have a flop on our hands if the location is bad.

So, I vote for anyone but me to do this. Like Rick or Brian or Bill

I think since Verne Howard is the administrator of the official registry, he should lead this.

Last I checked, Verne is still working on it. He just doesn't frequent this board for updates. It's still early yet, so we'll see.

Would'nt Arkansas be a little more central to all of us instead of Norwalk?

Question

Is there a major Pontiac event in Arkansas?

That depends on central to who? Obviously Arkansas is closer to Texas where you live, but is it in the middle of where the largest contingent of Can-Am ownership resides? How many folks from out west own Can-Am's and would come to Norwalk? Probably about as many as would come to Arkansas (count on one hand). How many would come from the midwest, and the east coast, and possibly down south (where there are more Can-Am owners) to Norwalk, teh biggest Pontiac event in North America, if not the planet?

My fear is that whomever organizes this reunion will get selfish and have it close to their home, either as a stand alone event (where it will fail) or at a small/local car show...simply because they don't want to travel.

It deserves to be held in conjuntion with another major Pontiac event, where it will get the draw it deserves and the media attention it deserves. To me, the obvious first choice would be Norwalk, with the second choice being the POCI convention.

Well said... this will never ever work as a stand alone event. It needs to be tied into a major show.
