I have owned that car for over 20 years. The Car was built by Bob Moore and Tim Kuschi. The motor they used was from the 1965 Don Gay AWB car. 421 on Nitro. Rescued the car from a owner that was going to install a big block Chevrolet .

My Uncle's GTO. Maybe in the late 70s early 80s. May have been at either Oldsmar Drag strip or Sunshine Drag Strip.

Drove this up to New England Dragway......beat on it all night....then drove it home. Had a junk yard 454 and Turbo 400 ..paid 125.00 for it in 1978. Best ET was 12.69 @ 108.88....in 1979 ...not bad for a 23 year old kid back then.

So of course there is a story here.....You decide what is true or not....

Roy built the trailer with 53 Chev spindles and made it so he could adjust camber on them. Evidently he wanted a high speed hauler.

One day after a relatively poor performance a dejected Tyner and his mechanic were riding home back to Lake View. The truck had a fresh built 454 under the hood. They were being taunted by a few people passing them then stopping just to pass them again....Roy just watched it happen a couple times. Then he decided to push the big Olds sedan a little....with the front bumper of the truck.

As they passed 100 mph the guys in the olds had enough. As the truck continued to push, they turned off into a tobacco field.

The rest of the trip back was silence.....But Roy had a hint of a smile on his face for the rest of the trip.
I tell my kids all the time about how we used to go to see my uncle in Florida during the Daytona race weeks and some of the racers would be at the same hotel or breakfast places with us (Howard Johnson's) and they'd have their open car trailers in tow, a far cry from what nascar travels like today. I probably still have pictures at my parents house. We used to drive down every year. Us kids would take turns sleeping up on the rear package shelf, And for many years this trip was made in my dads 69 mustang grande and my other uncles 69 mustang fast back. (We still have that grande)

These cars would just sit outside in the parking lot out in the open, it was amazing. The guys would all talk w you or say hello it was pretty cool. No cubic dollars yet at that point. Might have been nascar but it's still a big part of why I'm into cars today. This probably would have been 1976- 1979 I'd guess.
