Grand73Am I'm sure rick was again pointing his finger at me for pointing out that the TRS badge was incorrect for the 73 GTO, but I to was just pointing it out so if the curent owner didn't know or wasn't aware that it was incorrect as he has a great looking car. But htere for some reason seems to be som friction between myself & rick (77canamman) Although rick is & has in most of the posts is the 1st one to jump on anyone when they post something that is not correct, he has in the past made sure everyone knows that he knows EVERYTHING about the 73-77 A-bodies. Yes he does know a lot of info for these cars but in the past few years he has made it a point to let all know that he does know more then some. Plus his post about the same somebodies I'm sure refers to me but It's him thats is most always the 1st to point out when someone else has made a mistake. But when someone else does what he's so quick to point out he has to make sure that they are tried to look foolish. But all i can say to that is grow up & look yourself in the face before you correct someone for doing the same thing that you do.

RTS was used on the 1973 Grand Am, but Pontiac did not put any nameplates in the interior to remind the driver of such. 1974 was the first year that the emblem appeared in most models.

Guys, about the rts badge on the bazel I know they didn't come out with that opt on the lemons til 74. I have a 73' nos bezel with the same badge. It might be possible that it got subbed in on the assembly' line. Trust me from someone that has worked the assembly lines it's possible.

Note your build sheet screen grab below.
On topic, of interest (to me) are the designations as written there:
My copy - and supplemental page - of the GTOAA's Pontiac GTO/GT-37 Illustrate ID Guide does not include the desgination(s)
Instead for 1973 GTO it includes Standard Tire: Optional Tire:––------------------------------------------------- Standard Wheel: Stamped steel Standard hub cap: (illustration of chrome moon poverty cap w Pontiac arrow) Optional Wheel: Rally II; styled steel Optional Wheel: Honeycomb; molded Neothane/stamped steel Optional trim ring: Last edited by Alvin; 12-14-2014 at 01:22 AM. |

NOTE: So my point isn't to throw stones @ this great GTO!
Instead, it appears that this "Customer Ordered" 1973 GTO was originally equipped with "chrome wheels" which I'm wondering if they were a chromed version of the standard 15" x 7" (AE) also known as "chrome reverse" wheels (see image below for chrome GTO wheel) at that time and were quite popular with Hot Rodders? The buildsheet designations may be different/specific for Fremont CA built GTOs? My pointing these items out are intended for discussion and learning purposes only. Once again - in no way is there any intent on my part to diminish or denigrate this GTO. I find it quite interesting that we can always learn new details, designations, options, etc. that are contrary to the often heard and read: "they never built them like that" |

P.S.: the hubcaps (below) are also included as "Optional wheel disc: Custom finned" in the GTOAA guide for 1973 GTO's.
I did not include them in the above posts. I can't recall the last time - if ever - that I've seen them on a '73 GTO. In my limited experience - These are most often seen on '73 Grand Ams. |
