I posted this on the Firebird tech thread, but didn't get a response, so I'm trying on here:

Can someone help me determine the correct part no. for a '69 TA Alternator, no A/C, WITH rear window defogger?

I'm wondering if 1100854 is a correct unit, one resource I have say's it is not. Are there other units that would also be correct?

Also, where would be a good source to find a correct unit?
Thanks, Greg

i don't find 1100854 , but there is 1100554 which is a 61 amp for certain 69-74 applications.it all depends on how many amps your original one was. 1100554 61 amp , 1100543 42amp , 1100694 55amp , 1100842 37-42amp

On a Trans Am Facts and Figures, I found the following part no's as correct for '69 TA:
1100832 42 amp
1100830 55 amp
1100854 61 amp.

One individual told me correct 61 amp application is:
1100700 61 amp.

These are totally different numbers than the applications 1970cat suggests for this application.

H E L P, I'm thoroughly confused.
Thanks, Greg

Matt, alternator 1100700 (55A) is listed for A/C or rear defogger, in some book somewhere.

The 1100554 and other #'s 1970 cat shows is the Service Replacement #'s.

The 1100700 (Service # 1100694) would be an external regulator alternator.
Since yours is an early TA,it could be that if you have an external regulator.

I believe they started putting the internal alternator (CSI)on Birds.
If so it could be 1100830 (Service # 1100554)

Johnta and everyone, thanks for this valuable input on the alternator applications. I think I'm going to have my 100854 (open face, finned air coolers on the rear case) rebuilt and re-installed as original. 'Hollander' is a reference book that does call for this application on the '69TA.
Greg.
