Default Goodyear Polysteel Radial 225 70 R15

Just wanted to give you guys a heads up.

This afternoon I spoke to one of my buddies that is a Kelsey Tire Rep. He said that John Kelsey is in the test phase of reproducing the Goodyear Polysteel Radial in the 225 70 15. This is the OEM tire that came on most 77-81 TA's with and w/o the WS-6 pkg, So you guys that are big on the correct look... you can start looking for them over the summer if they test well.

Also, the idea of the Goodyear Eagle GT 225 65 15 that were OEM on a ton of early to mid GM cars is being kicked around. Grand National,442,Monte Carlos,Camaros, Firebirds any many others. But, it is just in the discussion phase now.

Good luck guys!

Finally! I've been hoping they would repop these tires for years. I have 8-10 originals including a couple NOS but don't trust them. Hell, they leak around the bead so you can't even use them for show. Not to mention they're hard as a minister's d!ck.
I'm in for a set if they are reasonable. Bet the late 70's vette crowd will be happy as well.

That's GREAT NEWS!

Can you drill your buddy regarding which size of white letter will be used or if (hopefully) BOTH will be available?

When tire was first introduced in 1978,the RWL's were slightly smaller than the 79-81 style.

No! My 78 Norwood built T/A had Goodyears as well as many others I have run across back in the day. As a matter of fact, I would say more had Goodyears than not!

My observations are based on Van Nuys production & as I recall, the Uniroyals were more commonly seen on Z28's and 80-81 WS4 Trans ams.

Both my 78 & 80 WS6 T/A's came with Goodyears

when i bought my 76 t/a, it came in with 3 of one and 1 of the other. i cant remember now if it was 3 uniroyals or 3 goodyears. i would have to go back and look at the pics. i didnt even notice it until i was taking pictures of it. then i was amazed at how they were the exact same tire all the way down to the fine print, just the name was different.

When the Polysteel Radial came out (in 1978),it was the first OEM GM tire radial to have it's own specific tread design.

Also the first one with P metric sizing

No need for tequila!

Good day to everyone. The plan is that both letter sizes will be produced.
I learned this last year not to predict when tires will be released when they are in the preproduction phase, but Mr. Kelsey did tell me that they are in the works. This means checking the molds, verifying the lettering artwork, destructive teardown, etc.

The Flexten radial that was on the Corvette in '78 is due to be introduced in very short order.
The first delivery of the L60-15 Polyglas tires hit the dock this last week. Kelsey is moving forward!!!!
