I worked for Goodyear from '82 to '96. I don't know why they stopped making the Polysteel, but it may have been because they lasted forever. We would sell a set of tires, and not see the customer for 7-8 years!! They were an excellent product.

You must not have a teenage boy in the house. I could (and did) make those polysteel radials disappear rather quickly in a haze of smoke

I can vouch for that. In 2000 I bought a 79 TA with 14,000 miles on it ant the original Goodyear Polysteel's on it. Drove it 400 miles back and forth to the Nats. My T/A now has 16K miles and the tires still look new and hold air even over the winter. But now that the car is 31 years old. I get nervous every time I drive it. Jay - Thanks for posting and I am in for a set of those tires. BTW here is a pic of one of the tires this past year.

I just received word this AM that it looks like the tires are full speed ahead and they will be slated for May delivery. Here is a picture that Mr. Kelsey sent to me. I will be down this weekend to look things over. No pricing as of yet.

I think those rims came on a Hot Wheels car back in the 70's when you bought a 3 pack of Bic lighters................

I plan to steer him toward two new sets of these tires.Aint nuthin like the real thing.

Charlie....I may need some help!

Jay - glad to help!
I can tell you first hand that I get lulled into a false sense of security with mine. There is absolutely "0" dry rot and the tires hold air better than my 2002 Grand Prix GT. But At 31 years of age every time I run the tires down the street it is like rolling the dice. Of the 5 years doing the Tech line at the Nationals twice I have seen cars come through with mangled fenders becasue a tire blew enroute to the show and damaged the sheet-metal as a result. With an all original car that would be devastating! Although I take pride in being one a only a few cars "Sporting" the original tires, and now everyone can get the original look, I cannot wait for the repops to be available..... Cheap insurance!

I just got back from a visit with John Kelsey and I have pricing for the Polysteels. It appears that the work order is in place and they should be having the tires show up in Mid May. Contact me via PM for information.

Still here and ready to answer questions. Everything I have heard is that the tires are still on track for delivery in mid-May. Short runs to start off with, but progressing up to larger batches. Thanks again for the opportunity to bring this to you guys!!!

Looks pretty good! Will they be doing them in pure black wall?
Do you have height/width/contact patch info?

Kelsey now has the information up on his site: http://www.kelseytire.com/pages/preformancetires2.html If you have any questions, please do not be afraid to contact me.

The first tires are slated to be in about the middle of May and the second small batch is due about the beginning of June. Thanks again for you interest.

Rusty

The first set of tires is due to hit the warehouse tomorrow and will be shipped out to a PY board member. He is the first to take delivery of these new Polysteels and I can't wait for him to post pictures!!!!!
