Thanks for the compliments on the car and the garage. The car photographs much better than it looks, but it runs really strong! It will be getting a complete restoration over the next few years. It was ordered the way I like it too, low option non-air. This would have been the fastest US production car made in 79.

That Formula is a rare special Bird.
Especially being a non AC car.

The official brochures are also full of small incorrect details such as options not available on the production run. There's a few on that car in other brochures, from memory the colour coded rally rims were dropped before 78.

Note the N67 1978 option description http://www.tran-zam.com/1978Main.htm
"N67 Wheels, Rally II Body Color with trim rings...Includes fifth Rally II spare when Stowaway Spare is not ordered?"

Can verify having owned a couple of '78 TA's originally equipped w body colored RA 2's

Yup wasnt sure. It certainly wasnt all colours offered in the end. There was something on the pics though, forget what. Same with the yellow 76 Formula and Gold Y88 brochure pages.

My 43,000 mile W-50 79 was "supposed" to be a W72 and was ordered as such, unfortunately it was ordered too late in the year and was delivered as a 301. Still had the WS6 and was fun to drive, just not that fast.

Remember it Well Boss, wish I could have swung it when you had it for sale. Love that color combo. There is a 79 W72 floating around FL. somewhere in that same combo.

Was it a very late 78 build? Certainly shouldn't have had it normally, became standard in '79. I only found one Formula pic with a machined bezel after a long search. No mention of the dash but the rest was claimed to be largely original.

Redbirds too, forgot them.

That Volo car is pretty nice and has nice equipment.
Would it have had the Black/2-tone Blue graphics ?

Anyone else have any good exterior shots of 77-78 W50 decal Formula's ?
Most preferable White with Black/Blue accents.

I just visually located a White specimen with moderate aging patina.
Going to investigate it closer soon.

I'm partial to that look too Todd, girl in my hometown had one that was fairly new - it looked good on her.

I like how the 77-78 W50 cars have the shaded accent color on the recess below the taillights. With a light primary color and the black secondary it really slims the back end of the car nicely.
