Chassis dyno numbers
Pulled the original 400 HO engine that was getting a little tired out of my 68 Firebird. In it's place put in a fresh build based on a '73 400 block with a 4.25 Eagle crankshaft, Comp 230/236 roller cam and 1.52 roller rockers. Pistons are Icon with a 30cc dish due to running a pair of stock, date correct 16 heads to keep it looking original along with a '68 intake manifold and RARE long branch exhaust manifolds. Kept the quadrajet but used a 800cfm model. Distributor has a Pertronix III module in it.
Numbers from the Dynojet were: 310 rwhp @ 5350 rpm 346 max torque @ 4450rpm Car was built as a fun street cruiser running on pump gas with 3.36 posi behind a TH200R4. |

Sweet numbers!
If your foot is as uncontrollable as mine you’ll be replacing the rear tires in no time!

Did you do any tuning? Optimizing the AFR and timing could be worth another 20-30 hp/tq.
My 455 makes slightly higher numbers, but at lower RPM (less CR, smaller cam, so as expected). I've got a lower restriction exhaust, and a LOT of tuning (EFI & ignition control). My car is a '73 T/A clone, 3.08 gears and stock torque converter - it has ran 13.12 @ 103.2. With your lighter car and more gear, you should easily be in the 12's (with traction!).

OP - thanks for sharing. That combo is very similar to my LeMans which has 16 heads and pistons with a 29cc dish. What is the cam lift and LSA?

Looks similar to my old 455, iron headed(96 heads), hyd cam, qjet, RA manifold motor……was a decent street combo… ran somewhere in the 12’s at a 4000lb race weight
