Cam R/R 64 GTO
Has anyone pulled the cam while in the car on a 64 A body? Looks real tight.

I have done it on a 64 Tempest 326 but that was 40 some years ago. If I remember right, I had to remove the radiator for sure-duh-and also push the grill/hood latch center support as well. The hardest thing was and still is the pan to timing cover bolts.

I have long removed all the hood mechanisms (fiberglass), so maybe it won't be too rough then. Those pan to cover bolts are a PITA even on an engine stand upside down. Thanks for the speedy response.

Everything up to the nose piece has to be out of the way. The end of the cam will go right into the nose piece.

I did this last year. I had to take out the grills and nosepiece and latch assembly. I also removed and installed all but the last cam bearings. Thanks Pontiac for the open lifter galley.

Ditto on OMT. All I had to do was pull the latch out. The cam will slide up into the "nose". It will be tight but it can be done.
