Time Flies !
It’s been about 5 years since I acquired this 1965 GTO Survivor from the Lady that bought it new from BROAD ST. PONTIAC in Newark, NJ.
I’ve been inspired lately by the “Unrestored Original cars” I see on the internet and by my good friend Grant Baber with his beautiful 67 Survivor on the 66-67 tech section. I will attempt to share more details of this “unrestored” car, along with several components that were used on the first “third” of the 65 production year. This car (11A, first week of Nov. 64) was built at the Baltimore plant during the 30 day strike (Sept. 25 - Oct. 25, 1964) and has some peculiarities about it. For the most part this car just needed TLC and some replacements of incorrect components. I was able to locate NOS or excellent used items for this process. First 2 pics sporting the Garden State plates when it first arrived. Hope you enjoy. Chris.

Still trying to find a complete metal dealer plate for this car.
Taking it out for a cruise. The last pic shows a portion of the eBay ad description.

Perfect.
These cars look so ‘right’ when they’re bone stock.

Early “1st design” outside remote control mirror with the very small Allen screw with reverse action for removal.
Power antenna in the rear, therefore a solid plug is used to cover the antenna cable hole under the cowl panel grill.

I had bought a 65 with same paint and vinyl roof right after I graduated high school, really loved the combo. One night driving home after working second shift a drunk turned left into the right door, totaled it...………

The interior ......
Just about perfect. There is a small rub through on the piping on the LH bucket seat and a worn spot on the bottom of the arm rest pad. Cordelia was a little rough on this side. LOL. Original “Custom Sports” wood steering wheel is in superb condition. No cracking and no light areas in the strong wood grain.

More interior
Evidence of smoking.
Dash ashtray shows staining and the RH rear ashtray had 3 butts in it when I received the car. I’ll leave them there, as it ads “Character”. The gray flocking inside the console is flawless.

The medium slate headliner and visors are perfect, along with the package tray and plastic window lace. Gray finish and glass on the standard inside mirror are excellent. Yes, Cordelia had the car undercoated early on.
