Just about every '65 GTO Lemans I've seen with original seats even the lower mileage ones, has the pipping wearing thin in that same exact area from drivers getting in and out. Funny the butts are in the tray and no ashes. My passenger seat has a small cigarette burn mark, that's the history of car.

Hey Todd,

Ya, I should ask CSI to investigate that. Heck, I don’t even know what brand they are.

Maybe they were flicking the ash out the open window ??

Eric,

Yes, I had a local dent removal guy (he works for all the dealers around here) come over and he was successful.

Before he started, he warned me it may be a little difficult because the old cars have thicker metal than the newer crap cars.

I knew I had the right guy when he pulled up in his 69 El Camino.
I was very happy with the results.

Chris.

Thanks for the update, Chris! Guys, I've been around and have sat in this car, and pictures don't do it justice. It looks, feels, and smells like a 2-year old car. A total time capsule. If we're lucky, Chris will post some interior shots of his '66......like looking into a jewelry box!

Hi Bob,

There are threads on coat hooks, so do a search..

Looks like 64-66 came with just the LH stamped metal hook.

Sounds like the RH coat hook would have been a dealer installed item.

Both my 65 and 66 came with the LH only.

Chris,

HaHa, yes that old factory morrokide smell is wonderful. Open the door and it engulfs you.

Default Trunk

As mentioned earlier in the eBay ad on this car the seller said “needs trunk mat and trunk floor paint”

Trunk floor has surface rust, but no holes.

The aluminum base trim used for the Cordova and Painted “Tops” allowed water to enter through the various fasteners / clips that secured these 5 pieces.

If you were to get caught in the rain or just washing one of these cars you will have water in the trunk.

I elected not to paint the floor, but did install the large reproduction mat.
This lower mat matches the factory upper mat perfectly.

Default Engine Bay, early 65 build.

Hi Kevin,

I went with a “tried and true” method ..... GUNK. Many large cans were used to cut through grease, oil and dead paint. Actually cleaned up nice.

Original hood insulation pad is a little tired and has an impression of a “fit all” radiator hose, but it’s 54 years old.

Keep in mind there are several early (about the first 1/3rd of 65 production) components found under the hood of this 11A build.

1) early style Shield (finger guard).
2) red positive battery cable.
3) power steering pump pulley.
4) heater hose bracket (plated).
5) aluminum fuel line to carb.
6) intake manifold (plug), RH front.

I was able to locate NOS Upper and Lower radiator hoses, plus I had an Original long heater hose with the 3 molded lines (old wrecking yard find)
