I still have two gallons of race fuel in a gas can left over from fall in a gas can. I add some to 91 non enthanol gas in my gto. Will the race fuel still be usable this spring? Should I add stablizer to it or just not use it. Thanks Bob.

Hello Bob, I just recently had a conversation with a representative from VP racing fuel regarding the same subject. He stated that their fuel stored in a sealed container is good for two years. I have used their VP 110 in my classics for years without any additives and have had no problems. You may want to contact your fuel supplier's technical department and ask them the same question. Racing fuel cost is high, but never having fuel evaporation or decomposition problems is worth the additional cost.

The problem is determining how old was the fuel before you bought it.

I've got some VP that is ten years old ... still using it up in lawn mowers etc. seems to work great.

I get the Sunoco race fuel from a service that is a few miles from our dirt track. There is always someone there getting fuel so it should be fresh.

The formulation of racing gasoline is very similar to the formulation of Avgas. I’ve seen ten year old Avgas in fuel cells that was still good.
