Default headers

What headers do you guys run on your Venturas? What headers fit fairly good on these cars without having to beat the crap out of them to make them fit?

I used Heddmans on a customer's 74 GTO that I did the engine on a couple of years ago. They were a short style that fit pretty well. Was on a 4 speed car too and had no problems with the clutch linkage.

Were they the shorties? Mine is a 4 speed, so fitting around the clutch linkage is a concern. Thanks

I got headmans also. Fit great, but I ordered mine for 67-69 Firebird. Forgot the number, 1 3/4 pipe also, never went bigger, but if I do I willhave to clearance pipe a little on drivers' side motor mount (frame portion of car) JOHN

Hooker Super comps work great with D-port. I have Hedmans with my eheads and had to do some massaging with the drivers side. Was not happy with the fit of the Hedmans.

All the headers I've ran have been for a first gen application. I started wtih a set of cheap dynomax 1 5/8" d-port, the fit great no hammers needed, the only problem was that the collectors ended at differant points under the car so the driver side exhaust tube was longer.

I replaced those with a set of d-port heddman 1 3/4", I didn't like them as the rode up too close to the floor pan and 2 1/2" exhuast was the largest I could run.

I've been sick with the flu, but once I'm over this I'll be installing a set of hooker 2" round port headers, a couple of the tubes wrap around the subframe, exhuast will be collector mufflers, If I'm not happy with the fit I have everything needed to make a set of 2" to 2 1/8" to 2 1/2" step headers with a 4 inch collector, just really don't want to put in the time right now, already made 3 sets of headers this winter, lol.

Do you have the part number on the shorty headers.

I have a set of Hooker Competition #4902. Haven't installed them yet on my 73 Ventura, but would like to know if anyone else has installed these in a Ventura. The passenger side #6 tube looks like it might be very close to the firewall/floorboard. My car has factory AC but that will be removed before I put these on.

I don't remember the part # for the Hooker's I had on my car but they were for a 73-74 Ventura not a 1st gen firebird and they fit great! No tweaking or denting needed at all on them. The only problem is that you have to remove the oil adapter before you can install the header on the pass. side but thats a common thing with any header.

Hooker comps are 4902, super comps are 4107. Both are for d-ports.

Default headers

I just installed Hooker supercomps on my car. They fit excellent.
Only need to remove the starter to make the fit easier and the oil lifter.
No issues with the clutch linkage.
Only one issue there is one header bolt that is difficult to install on the passengers side center port. You need samll fingers and a crow foot wrench.

Does your driver side hang lower than your passenger side? Mine does, only complaint about supercomps.

Default Headers

Actually they look pretty good.I was sceptical installing these as I didn't want to have to get the hammer out.I hooked up a set of stainless magnaflows and I had a stainless exhaust built .

Do you have any pictures of the supercomps? I'm wondering about the fit around the steering box and passenger side firewall. I have a set of comps that are smaller dia but not sure if the routing of the tubes is similar. The way things are going it will be awhile before I can install them.
