Hmm, interesting info on the lash. My card says 26/26 hot and i have it lashed at 18/20 cold. Maybe i will loosen it up to what the card says and see how it feels.

There was also a sasktel camera crew there filming the event so i am going to try and get a copy of it when they air it on tv.

Dang man, you really tightened the lash on that puppy! When you open it up to the .026/.026 your going to get more vacuum and stronger lowend power. IMHO This is a major reason the 60' has suffered. Your cam even when lashed properly needs more converter so when you crank the lash real tight like that the issue is compounded further by making the cam run even bigger than designed. At least now you know why the "Upgrade" wasn't working right so it can be fixed. Keep us posted! JD

You may be right. I will be loosening the lash in the next few weeks hopefully (if work and building the new garage does not get in the way). Unfortunatly, i will not be going back to the track this year as i have too much other stuff on the go.

I did notice i was crossing the line at ~5500 rpm this year compared to 5200 last year.

Well, i checked the schedule and i may be going back to the track oct 4&5 if there is no snow on the ground. I will loosen the lash and may have the nitrous online for that weekend!

Maybe i will get back in the 11's on motor and one shot at in the tens on the juice.

Tire height can play a big role in topend rpm as well as 60' times, bias vs radial tire, and rear gears. If/when you go back to the track I'd like to see the car run with the stickiest & shortest set of tires you own NA; while moving the shift point up. Based on the topend mph and rpm of the NA run may require a taller set of tires with the nitrous to help out with the topend rpm from the increased mph. Good luck I'll be watching! JD

Shortest and stickiest i have are the 275/60 MTDR's, same as i ran last year. The only difference from last year is the cam and intake. I am running consistent MPH of 110-111, last year i was around 108-111. I will move the shift up and see how it goes, say 6300?

I was going to say do a baseline run shifting at 6000 then follow it up shifting at 6200 to see if the MPH picks up. Johnny G. use to shift his 290-b cammed 462 engine around 6500-6800 in a 3700lb 69 GTO and ran 11.0's. I'd say slowly work your way up to 6500 using the MPH as a guide whether the engine likes it or not. It may like a little more or a little less than 6500 only testing will say. Honestly, I feel your combo should MPH 115+ so let it breath and see what it says!

NOTE: Make sure you have enough "Jet" in the carb as more airflow means more fuel consumption. JD

K, will do. Carb is jetted 80/88 right now with rear PV plugged. It is rich as the tailpipes are pure soot.

I may purchase a A/F data logger by that weekend though, would help with the tuning.

Yup, i have dual naroow band sensors in now but do not trust them enough to tune with.

I run my sensors just after the header collector.

Thanks for the picture, thought they had to go into the collector.

I think narrow bands are supposed to go in the header as they need to be a certain temp to read well. Widebands are heated so they can be further away and still work.

I don't think the 12bolt is an upgrade over the 8.5'' 10b. What i have seen is that the 12 may be ''alittle bit'' stronger but the 10b parts are easier/cheaper to find (80's chev trucks, thousands out there). If i were to upgrade from the 10b i would go ford 9'' or dana 60.

I dont think i will be upgrading mine until i go twin turbo, which will be a year or two.

I have had no problems yet. I plan on upgrading the heads in spring (315cfm KRE-D's by SD) and restalling the 'verter higher so i will see how it handles it next year.

As long as it's the 8.5 10 bolt and not the weaker 8.2 you should be fine. As mentioned the parts are much easier and cheaper to build the 8.5 10 bolts. I found the 9" ford rearend from a mid-70's Granada is overall 1 1/2" shorter than the 8.2 rear I removed. So being 3/4" shorter per side did cause tire to body interference necessitating a mini-tub. Once I relocate or remove the factory leaf springs I can run a section width close to 13.5-14.0" depending on the rim back spacing. Just trying to throw out economical rearend options! JD

Then i proceeded to woop a new stage 3 shelby GT500 (twice), haha!

My little street car is doing well so far, now if only i could get alittle faster at the track.
