Pontiac's 265 V8 was an economy version, based on the 301, sold from 1980 to 81.
The first 1955 Pontiac V8 was a 287 ci. "Strato Streak". |

I didn't realize that you could buy any rebuilt Pontiac V8 for $1,600.

If not, just the pistons would cost $500 or so. But hey, there might be some sort of shelf piston/rod combo from another brand that will work. https://www.summitracing.com/search/...iew=Horizontal I'm sure the OP probably knows exactly what he wants to do with a 265. User here on PY "ladytata" parted out a Firebird with a 265, and had it on her Facebook for sale page.

Are there any forged rods that will work in a 265/301, like maybe 6" small journal sbc rods, with the right pistons. ?

"Core charge $250". That would still be under $1,900. But, yeah, who knows if they actually have a good core.
