My understanding is that the "Acadian" brand cars were distinctly unique;
Acadian was the "brand", all Acadiains were sold exclusively in Pontiac franchised dealers.

The actual full name is: 'Acadian Beaumont' or 'Acadian II' - just like 'Pontiac GTO' or 'Pontiac Firebird'.
It is noteworthy that no Pontiac crests were on Acadian cars - but hte Acadian logo was quite similar to a Pontiac logo.

It's 83 built for that engine among all Acadians. Particular to this trim level, which is the Canso, it is unknown.

That second shot shows just how graceful a rear end they had. It doesn't hurt that the car is in amazing shape. With the Nova based ones, that L-79 for about 45K USD is cool, but the styling doesn't do it for me.

I'm not a Chevy guy, but a Canadian car would make me one. Always liked them, whether Pontiac- or Chevy-derived.

When it comes to Beaumonts, I prefer the '66.

I like how the "Canadian Pontiacs' used the Pontiac dash with the round gauges. The long sweeping speedo on the Chevelle's is not as attractive, IMO.

If I were to tackle another project,...... this is my kind of car, and that price seems fair. ($13.5 K Can is about $10K US)

CDN Pontiacs also used Chevy's chassis' 119" wheelbase and no 'Wide-track'.

What changed was the 1965 Automotive Products Trade Agreement (APTA) for free trade between the U.S. and Canada, not the 90's NAFTA.

I am pretty sure this is why there are Canadian 'Pontiacs' (there is some possible misinformation earlier in this thread). Also the reason behind Mercury pickups in Canada (I'm sure there are other examples as well).
