If AC compressor it's probably the filter/dryer.....accumulator.

I want to buy a new compressor from Ames, it is compatable for the 134 refridgerant, but the muffler is not available. Can I use my existing muffler on the new compressor and the 134? Thanks in advance! Bill |

Yes. The muffler is pretty much just a can with some baffles in it, kinda like some exhaust mufflers. You can re-use it.

just make sure you get purged/cleaned of all traces of r-12 and the associated refrigerant oil.
unless something has changed, r-12 and r-134 compressor oils are NOT compatable.

the oil in the conversion kits can be mixed with R-12 mineral oil and not be a problem. just try blowing out as much old oil as possible and any parts you replace use the 134 oil in the correct amounts.
