Question 64 Bonneville Inhibitor Switch?

Asking this question on behalf of a friend here.

He has had a TH350 installed into his Bonneville. Column mounted gear change.

Which inhibitor switch do you recommend installing to replace the original?

I have given him a switch off a '66 column but it apparently does not fit. Not sure why not?

Thanks

Ian

Is that what we on this side of the pond call a neutral safety switch? Often includes a backup light switch.

I think that is what Ian is referring to.

Hey Ian,

I have never been able to find a suitable replacement for the TH350/400 swap on the neutral safety switch. At one point I was thinking of modifying a switch from a later model year, like a '66. I believe the issue is with the electrical connection onto the steering column switch vs the actual physical mounting of the switch (read: different connctor)

Cheers mate!! How are things down under in my home away from home?

Ron

Some of the after market companies make a switch that mounts to the transmission case with a rod going to the trans lever where it comes out of the side of the case. It is not dependant on the steering column or shift linkage. I used that on my 1964 GP when I installed a T350. It has worked fine for several years now.
