Is it difficult to keep the A/C on a V8 swap?
I have an 86 Grand Prix and it currently has A/C and a lame 3.8 motor. I have intentions of installing a 400 Pontiac at some time down the road and would probably would like the A/C to remain. I just fixed it today and REALLY liked driving the car around all cool, and not sticking to the seats. What kind of issues, clearance problems, compressors, etc, am I going to run in to?

I was wondering the same thing! I have the 400 already installed in my 80 Grand Prix, but havent attempted to hook up t he ac. The compressor it still there but not mounted to the motor. I would assume that 301 brackets from the same era would work? Probably brackets from a Firebird/TA, bonneville, grand prix, etc should work. It depends on what compressor you are going with as to which brackets to track down. If it is the small compressor, i would look for late 70's early 80's 301 powered ponchos since thats what they came with.

301 brackets for AC will mount to a 400 block without issue.

Depends on the engine you install.
Chevy , Pontiac, small Olds, small Buick are basically a bolt on deal. Big Olds / Buick require a few "Mods" to the case. Makes it a real Mother****er to change vlave cover gaskets also with the W-30 Olds engine. Mike
