Rebuild time. Build a 455, you will like the spool time with that turbo.

i knew that cylinder was bad before i installed the turbo. i wanted to get the turbo ground work laid then pull the motor and rebuild. i actually have already ordered a balanced stroker rotating assembly (462 cu) from P dude.

Ah that's why you were doing the 462, that'll be a torque monster.

Do you know what cam you're going to run?

i would love to go with a solid roller but its just not in the funds. i mic'd out the old summit 2802 that was in it and it still looks good so i ll stick with it for now. not a big selection out there of cams with big LSA's

The 2802 will work good, I get about 15in of vacuum at idle but it still has a decent lope to it. The cam will pull fine up to 5600 with boost but I usually let the governor shift it around 5200. Your car will be a good sleeper with that cam!

5600 rpm is all i want

yes i agree with the sleeper. i cant believe how quiet it is with the turbo and existing exhaust. i was cruising down the road one day and a friend came up from behind and pulled up next to me and said he couldnt even hear it. i like the sleeper sound.

I don't remember if it's Comp or Crane that offers a custom grind service for the same price as an off-the-shelf cam. Might be a good idea to look into.

How tall is the carb " hat " and where did you get it from? I need one about 2.5-3 inches tall.

How's this coming along?

Curious what this foot brake stalls at and what the advertised stall was?

I just snagged a nice set of 64 D port exh manifolds, getting closer to my build thanks to seeing this thread.

well actually i took it out for its maiden voyage yesterday. i was real concerned with burning up my new 700R4 so i took it pretty easy. i think there might not be enough tension off idle on the TV cable. when i adjusted it i basically adjusted it at WOT. so im going to have to tinker with that. im also getting the fuel injection dialed in. it needed alot more fuel in gear at idle than i did before with the manual (obviously) especially with the low stall speed of the convertor. I also need to rebleed the brakes. the pedal is way too soft for me. im thinking i have some air trapped in the line lock.

but i did get on it once...i just couldnt resist. i manually shifted it. from a rolling start i put er down, she took off as expected, i slap it into second...got a nice chirp then WAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHh the boost came and the tires broke lose...my eyes lit up, i quickly countersteered to keep her straight... it actually kind of scared the crap out of me (in a good way) so i quickly backed off and shifted into 3rd and then checked my pants. the data log showed 8.5 pounds of boost. also alot of smoke at WOT. im hoping its simply that the rings arent seated...i doesnt really have that much time running but seems i have read that moly rings seat quickly. we will see.

next its re bleed the brakes...re adjust the TV cable..a couple tweeks to the fuel map.

i do plan on getting some video of it.

i forgot to add that i fabbed up a single 4 inch exhaust. from the down pipe...over the axle (that took some time) and out to where it dumps out right behind the rear bumper with a turn down. i painted it all black to help hide it but that freaking race muffler is loud.

i know that dual 2.5's would probably flow better but it thought I could have a little fun by saying that "it has stock cast iron exhaust manifolds.....and even only has a single exhaust"

also, if back pressure is a problem i think i could make room for a cut out.

Single 4" exhaust should flow more volume than dual 2.5"

one 4" pipe has about 28% more area than two 2.5" pipes, if I remember my high school math correctly.

Nice project.
