Default First test in my car, went well!

Took the car (65 Lemans) to the track last night for the first time for some testing. Been working on this car for roughly the past 5 years as time/money allowed. It’s my first effort at a dedicated race car. Previously owned a 72 Lemans street car that I managed to 12.5x in a 1/4 mile - fastest I’d ever been.

First pass off the trailer was an easy go at it to make sure it would accelerate, go straight, no vibrations or crazy noises, and slow down. Which was a success! Car did surprisingly well. After foot-braking and launching at somewhere between 1500-2000 rpms and rolling into about 3/4 throttle from there, car went perfectly straight.

Second pass I tried foot braking again and as I brought RPM’s up at the starting line car pushed thru the brakes, but made another good straight pass.

Third go I played with the trans brake for the first time. First two passes the car hooked up and left no problem. This time I brought RPMs up to around 2500 and left on the brake, tires spun like I was still in the water box. Eased back into it, car responded well. That pass required a small amount of steering to keep it straight. 1/8 mile ET of 6.70 @ 110mph iirc.

(On the return as I slowed to pick up the time slip the car stalled (dead battery) and couldn’t get it fired back up so was distracted from the time slip.)

Really excited that the car did so well. Big adjustment going that fast for the first time... I got nervous during the first pass. Plenty of work to do still but that was encouraging!

Great job! Once you get things sorted out, you should be well into the 9's 1/4 mile and getting close to 5's in the 1/8!

Congrats! You are running very well considering the car is new and its the fastest you have ever been... Cant wait till you are more familiar with the set up and you get all the bugs tweaked out... so far the only bugs sound like the battery and suspension (traction on launch)... good luck & have fun!!!

There is allot of time there in just making passes. I would not change allot if your plugs look happy and keep making passes. When the slips level out you can find the rest. I'm happy for you.
