Default Help identifying part

A friend of mine is working on the restoration of a 69 Bird and he's got this part left, he does not know what it is and he asked me for help.

I'm quite positive it's the shield for the backdrive linkage but my 69 is not here at home so maybe some guys here can help me.

A picture showing how/where it's bolted would be a great bonus ! Thanks guys. Frank.
