Default 69 firebird was 455, 4 speed, (budget) now LS-Lm7 5.3 gm swap

So I indecided to stuff a 2000 up, 5.3-lm7 or ls series engine in my 69 firebird, sold the 455 and the 4 speed muncie. This is the list of parts that i need to buy

TH400 JW ULTRABELL 92451LS
ENERGY SUSP. SBC M-MOUNTS
CORVETTE LS6 OR ZRI CAMSHAFT
98-2000 CAMARO CORVETTE INTAKE
FUEL RAILS
50-60 LB INJECTORS
PAC VALVE SPRINGS
98-00 CAMARO WATER PUMP
P/S PUMP AND RESERVOIR
HEADERS---DOUG'S
1350--DRIVESHAFT
80MM T/B
99 CORVETTE FUEL FILTER
STAND ALONE ENGINE HARNESS
REPROGRAM ECU
UNDECIDED IF TURBO IT OR NOT??? SINCE THIS MOTORS MAKE DESCENT H-P AND ARE CHEAP TO BUY...--TIME AND $$$

Thanks, I was not aware of that spacer.

For those swappers who don't yet have a converter I found out CircleD makes a custom t350/400 converter with CNC billet front cover that bolts direct to OE LS flex-plate.

Looking good brother. Check out the Ls1tech classifieds often for deals. Here is my twin-turbo LQ4 setup.

I have a 5.3 in my '68 LeMans and am going single turbo because the C5 FEAD blocks my older twin-turbo manifolds. I went with an '04 LS6 cam (5308), LS9 timing chain, LS6 intake and LS2 springs. If you go with the ZR1 cam you will need more parts since the CPS is located on the front of the newer Gen 4 motors. Your Gen 3 ls, like mine has the CPS in the back. Not worth the hassle in my opinion.

Sorry for the late response bro. My manifolds are Mustang T3 manifolds mated to LS flanges.

how were you able to do that, the tubes matched the mustang 302,351w. head exhaust layout? thats interesting, can you elaborate on that please? i know they sell plenty of 302 turbo exhaust headers on ebay too.

I am considering a LS installation into a 69 Firebird as well. Do I need a different oil pan other than the factory 2004 GTO LS 1 pan, will it not fit well ? Thank You.

Tim, that oil pan wont work, Holley makes a nice one, ebay sells them for $399..buy the headers and the motor mount kit from "DOUG'S HEADERS", also you need the stand alone engine harnes for you engine...cooling fans from a 98-02 camaro-trans am ls1, if you are going toinstall a complete LS1--motor,stock, you need to have the ECM-reprogram and also remove the ANTI-THEFT-VEHICLE....Its tricky and kind of pricey, try to buy your engine complete, pulleys, p/s, alt. intake that will save you some good money..good luck man..post pict. about your project

Engine that I am considering will be a complete take out of a modern GTO. I also would like to know about using a Tremec TKO 600 five speed, will the Tremec work with the factory GTO LS-1 flywheel and hydraulic clutch ? or do I need to go with what HURST Driveline offers in kit form.

Default 69 firebird ls

Finally installed the exhaust by PYPES STAINLESS, o2 sensors, stand alone harness, air intake, bosch fuel pump, 36lbs injectors, my centerline rev wheels, 15x4 fronts with 205-70-15 and 15x10 rears with 275 drag radials, I was able to start the engine, idles fine but will need tunning cause of the cam and injectors change, next fill tranny up with fluid and maybe test drive it...here are some pictures, sorry kind of small, they were taken with my cheap ass cell phone...

I have another thread going right now selling my Pontiac roller cam and lifters because of switching to LS. I have a 6.0 with LS3 heads with 5k miles on it . I'm putting my FITect on it because of functional hood scoop. Still collecting swap parts. I'll post pics when complete.
