This pic baffles me a bit - I made a setup to pluck TPI motors a few years ago and modded it the work like this pic.

But even with a lighter Muncie the balance point was waaaay off. I redrilled to get it balanced but now the passenger side is drooping - how did they do this?

I just drove by there a few days ago on my way south. As you can imagine the bare land and hillsides are long gone. Asphalt and concrete is all you can see.
Plant produced the Toyota Matrix/Pontiac Vibe for a while. Went vacant until Tesla took over.

A guess on my part.
I think the metal rods were bent at certain angles to distribute the center of gravity at the correct point to be level?

Your chains are letting it tilt at a different center line.
Plus it looks like they may be using a chain on front also that may be what 'balances' it?

I thought the same on the rear rod - it seems to possess a healthy dogleg.
But fore/aft balance is not addressed - my engine/trans center of mass seems to be just aft of the carb whereas their pick point is dead over a 2 barrel carb...

I think it is interesting that the control arms are not painted.

dld, I agree. I blew it up more and the other frame has the chains also.

Here is another pic from the engine room side:

Basically same setup. It also has different bumps at top to change the front to back tilt. The arms have a lot of bend to them.

PS: it's from a later year also 1974?

Is that dipstick shown in pictures 2 & 3 two posts above something special? I don't remember seeing one like that, but I am no mid-60s Pontiac expert.

Guys - i've seen these pictures before and never noticed until just now the first chassis is different than the one in the 2nd and 3rd picture. Look at the oil filter adapter housing. The first one is the canted one with the sensor toward the rear, the second is the 90 degree one with the sensor out the side. The only reason i noticed is i just put my engine on my frame with the 90 degree one, and the filter won't go on. Not enough room. So is the second picture a big car chassis?

I think you're referring to the heater hose bracket, not a dipstick. '64's all had that bracket.

Fremont built Buick, Olds and Pontiac down the same line.

What I have read about Fremont is same as Baltimore. BOP cars and Chevelle on same line. But they were all A body's. I know Baltimore only built A Body's

I looked at what you are talking about and I did the same thing with filter housing. mine worked for awhile because I put the motor in with filter on LOL. Didn't the sending unit point the same direction though on both housings ???

No. Canted housing sender points to rear, 90 deg points to side.
