Cordelia's 65 Mayfair Maize "Survivor"
It's not a Tri-Power 4 Speed car but it is a beautiful rare find 1965 GTO with just 43,456 Original miles.
I have been very fortunate to become the new owner of this one owner car. It just turned 50 years old back on the first week of Nov. 2014 (build date 11A out of the Baltimore plant). A New Jersey lady by the name of Cordelia finally decided to get her drivers license when she was 35 years old (1965) and was trained in of all cars, a 1965 Tempest. She passed and wanted that same type of car for her own but the local Pontiac dealer only had this automatic 4 barrel on the floor so that's what she bought. She had a single car garage built behind her house just for this GTO. When it was raining or snowing she took the bus to work and the car stayed under sheets out of the elements. Cordelia recently passed away on Dec. 14, 2014 at the age of 84+ years of age. She had been in a care facility for the past couple years and her GTO has been tucked away in that little garage. The last time it was out was 2001 for a NJ safety inspection until John (fine gentleman that is Cordelia's nephew) recently had to prep the car for sale. A time capsule for sure that is 100% Factory Original Paint and Pinstripes, Mint Cordova Top and Mint Interior including a perfect dash pad and custom sport steering wheel. The engine bay is the only area that needs some attention. Complete numbers matching drive train but has had the local garage mechanic doing some odd things which I will get corrected. This 65 starts right up and idles just as new and having 3:23 gears goes real nice (really pulls strong and cruises great on the highway) with the automatic. Cordelia babied her GTO as shown by it's unbelievable condition and I plan to continue doing the same!

The biggest blemish on the body is a small dent on the drivers front where Cordelia bumped a garden hose bracket on the side of her house. There is remnents of wax all over this car around the emblems, body seems and chrome which comes right off with a tooth brush and cotton cloth.
The service sticker on door reads 8-19-87 with 41025 miles. Today it reads 43456 miles. 2431 miles the past 27 years.

Chris, good for you!! And a power rear antenna.....perfect. There is something about an original car that can't be duplicated by even the best restoration. A persona, a patina, and aura, whatever. You are the perfect canditate for custodianship of this piece of history. How did you find out about this car in NJ???? When I read Cordelia, I thought that was where you got it.....(By Suisun Bay!). I am going to have to get into the '67 and drive out to Fremont pretty soon....would love to see this and your YR '66. Congrats, again!!

Thank You Guys!
Yes, some are still in hiding.
After a 3000 mile journey from NJ to Calif. via enclosed trailer I'm starting to make her shine again. The dealer plate (BROAD ST. PONTIAC NEWARK N.J.) on deck lid is pitted and missing the BR so if anyone has one of these or an idea on how to design the matching font size/style letters "BR" I would love to get this repaired. Notice the early style (64 design - no cooling slots) wire wheel discs on this 65.

From the perfect silver gray headliner to mint carpet this interior is like the day it rolled out of the Baltimore plant. Even the plastic chrome on all the arm rest bases are perfect.
Note the after market seat belts as this car came with the option 414 seat belt deletion at an $11.00 credit. A couple questions I have......the rally clock and door edge guards are not shown on the window sticker or my PHS for this car??

Congrats - that's a cool story and car.

The door edge guards, along with the pin stripes, were probably dealer installed and thus won't be on the sticker - but will be on her paperwork from the purchase. I'd guess that's probably what they did for the clock, too - just added it in for her from the parts bin.

Congrats!!! I purchased the red 65 survivor car that was discussed earlier this fall on the forum (40k miles, buckets and column shift). Gotta love the originals, nothing like them. I love the pic with the first owner standing by as you back it out......cool story.

65 GTO
So how did you find this car? There must be a good story here and of course we all wonder what it cost you, of course you don't have to answer that I'm just saying what everyone else is thinking. Good for you and may the next one happen to me.

The hubcaps are 64 for everything I've ever seen, no slots. Am I wrong? Would not be a 1st.
