my first big car, GP 421HO
I've known about this car for 2+ years. As luck would have it, I figured I would never end up with it. Last Sunday I called the owner and he said come get it
It hadn't run for a couple of years. After removing a half inch of dust it cleaned up real nice. Initial start revealed, power steering leak, water pump leak, front carb filled up flush with gas, somethings plugged or stuck? I'll be visiting the big car section more frequently now Original color Silvermist, now Marimba Red Original black interior 421 HO w/4 barrel tripower added 4 speed A/C 8 lugs I'll be ordering the PHS this week A few pics, more to come when I get it running |

The front carburetor issue sounds like a stuck float - rap on it with a screwdriver handle a couple times to see if it unsticks. If the other leaks aren't very bad, drive it around some first before doing anything. Sometimes after a car has been sitting for a while the seals dry out, and running the car will get them to expand and seal up again. It may or may not work but you have nothing to lose.

Thought it might be a ‘65, I guess I’m just not familiar enough with the big Pontiacs.
Great score Greg.

I'm sure that you'll keep the black plates, but as a kid growing up in northern MN, I remember a similar car with personalized plates that read "63 PRIX". Always liked that car....

Thanks for all the great remarks. Paint is excellent, Interior is a little dirty but in great shape. Trunk looks likes it 1963 all over again, 8 lug spare with big steel plate and a big thick vinyl spare tire cover, matching vinyl trunk mat. Power steering and power brakes, am radio with a dash mounted switch that controls front and rear speakers, it works to. Overall the chrome, probably stainless trim is good, bumpers excellent. 8 lug wheels need some loving. Eventually I start a thread in the big car section, but for now I'm crawling all over it, crunching numbers, and learning. For instance, how many of you knew of a Pontiac that came with a tranny that had a chevy bow tie cast on it. I didn't.
