It’s back, really none of my business but I thought that intake was not very good on a Pontiac. I had one on a built 400 that I never could get to idle or run well back in the 80s. I switched to the factory intake and it ran and idles much better. Again just my opinion/experience trying to help.

That 2-4bbl Intake is only better then the factory Q- jet or trips type Intake above 4500 rpm on a 400 to 428 cid motor, and even then its only maybe 5 hp better but below that it's short runners due to its 360 design makes for greatly reduced torque levels right where you need it most to get a car moving. I had one of those for a number of years that I picked up for cheap , but never used it. Mine was the spreadbore version of it , one day when I had 2 spare Q-jets I blew the dust off of the Intake and plopped it on my warmed over 400+ 060" motor with ported iron heads. Even with the cars 3.55 gears and the small primary's of the two Q-jets the car lost the punch from off idle that it used to have! That Intake stayed on the car a total of 5 days before it came off the motor! If you need the Eye Candy of a 2-4 bbl Intake then the Edelbrock one is the only way to have your Cake and eat it too!

The Offy Intakes actually flows better vs the old Edelbrock dual 4 intake.
Old school but not very good flow from either one. Tom V.

Flow to me on those offy Intakes unfortunately does not mean crap to me Tom.
The runners are all of 2 1/2 to 3 inches long so if you do the math on the tuned lenght of them even for a 480 cid motor you will see what I mean.

Hmmm, not what I wanted to hear. Is it just the offy 360 or any iffy dual quad? I do have another one, that’s not a 360.

The ones that are not the 360 model(s) are more like the Eddy 2-4 Manifold with longer runners.
The proper way to think of the Offy 360 Manifolds is that they are of a low rise single plane design with very short runners.

I ran the Offy 5499 intake with 2-600 Holley's for quite a few years in the late 80's early 90's. 412 CID, Ported 62 heads and a Comp 288 Hyd Camshaft. In a 3700lb car with a 3.55 gear it ran 11.90's and could drive it anywhere. Replaced with a Doug Nash Tunnel Ram and the car ran 11.60's.
In my opinion it is not a bad intake with some work. Mine liked a 1" spacer under the carbs.

Look , I am not saying it will run bad , but there's a definite torque loss in terms of street drivability which is where 80 % or greater of your driving time seems like it will be I will assume from what you have posted
I wish you could A/B it like I did against a iron Q-jet set up If you have everything needed to run it then try it then do so to try it out and judge for yourself if it fills your needs, I mean heck if you need to switch it a different set then converting to something else is less then a 1/2 day job.

Well I’ll give it a try, like you said it’s a couple hours at most to swap it out if need be! What is good to block the hole for the hot air choke? Crossover is blocked anyway with stainless plates so not much going on there anyway?
