1969 W66 400 Sport Option
Anyone ever heard of the 1969 W66 400 Sport Option ? Seems it was dreamed up by Norm Inouye (a Pontiac designer), but for whatever reason Pontiac didn't follow through with it. It included a bird decal on the trunklid. Story here:

Thanks for posting and linking to the blog article.
Just to clarify, the W66 400 Sport Option is the "official" name for the basic Firebird 400. It only applies here because availability of the decklid decal was limited to Firebird 400s only. Similarly, the decals accenting the raised portion of the hood (ironing board) were limited to Firebird Sprints with the OHC Sprint 6-cylinder. It seems Pontiac was trying to provide some visual identity for those two models. |
