Default Comp 857-16 hydraulic roller lifters

I have a set of 16x Comp 857 "early design" hydraulic lifters, all wheels roll smooth.

I purchased them from another site member nearly 10 years ago but I never used them. I have a set of Johnson ST lifters and will not be using these. $250 shipped in the continental US.

is the oil band in correct spot or does it need to be troughed on these?

I assumed they where good to use as is... It wasn't till years later i started seeing people post lifter tips and tricks by tear dropping the oil holes in their lifter bores... I honestly didn't know that was an issue or even a thing when I purchased them.

I wonder if that was with other brands or later lifters...?

I have never done a lifter bore mod with ANY hyd roller lifter.I have a set of those in one of my engines right now,a set of Shaver Comps in another and a set of Morels in the short deck engine.Have a set of Shavers going in a new 455 build right now.Tom
