Default 1966 GP 421 HO

Selling my '66 GP. Marina Turq./Marina Turq. YK 421 HO w/ 096 heads 744 cam (Have a set of 093s), auto A/C. 3.42 Safe-T-Trac, 8 lugs, AM/FM, power antenna, reverb, power windows, power vents, Tach, Vac gauge, Gauge cluster, low fuel warning, reel out trunk light, etc. RMS drips, underside of car is not detailed. A/C discharged when seals on compressor leaked. Has aftermarket undercoat. Door ding in driver's door & LR quarter. $23,500.

I am going to be moving soon, and I will not have room for all the cars I currently have. This car has 60k original miles. the 421 is not original to the car, but has been in the car since at least the 1980s. I personally have not run the PHS on the car b/c I know the motor is not original, but it is my understanding that there is not much there as it was never titled through a dealership. We speculate that due to extensive list of options and appearance of car that it was a zone manager (out of MD) or similar car hence no dealership title. This car was made to sell cars by the looks of it. I added the Vac gauge b/c I could not think of a combo where it would serve better. I have not driven it much in the last few years, so I am letting it go in favor of an heirloom car I have that I can not sell for sentimental reasons.

Car is older restoration done by Pontiacer Al Palmgren. It is very nice but not perfect per above items. If it was perfect, I would ask a whole lot more $. '66 big cars with a lot less going for them than this one have recently sold at some of the big auctions for $40k. As it stands, the car is priced to sell. I based my price for no BS and enough $ to get my other car painted and put back together.

E-mail 63Safari@gmail.com with any other questions etc. Bought it from a PYer years ago, & a few other members are familiar with this car. Ultimately I'm sure I will regret selling, but for now I will be happier having less cars and more time for the 2 remaining. Here are some Pics I took a few weeks back. Car will come with a set of Firehawks on it is only change from these Pics.

I've seen this car a couple times and it is nice. Whoever pulls the trigger on this will not be disappointed.

Just beware of the dog.

If you don't have PHS docs, can you PM me the VIN?

Thanks,

Yes.

I contemplated asking you if you wanted to buy the interior. I am building another car and considered keeping the 421 and all the chrome etc. for my project since all that stuff is so expensive to do, and I already have the majority of the interior for my project. For what these cars bring, the $ you get is the same to part out or sell whole, but a whole lot less hassle than finding the parts.

There is no PHS available for this car b/c it was never titled through a dealership. PO tried and came up blank. Pretty sure it was a zone manager or similar car. Definitely built to sell cars.

Man, I love this car- and the price certainly looks nice! All I need is more time and more garage space!

A member here says he WAS able to get a PHS on the car, and that it was "originally a 389 4bbl, turquoise, turquoise, black vinyl top, auto, seat belts custom, PB, PS, PW (no vent), A/C, PB radio w/manual antenna and tinted glass".

Maybe Scott will chime in and relate his PHS experience. It is my understanding that he was unable to obtain it for this car.

As I have said repeatedly, I do not care about PHS. If someone would rather have this car as a 389 4bbl without the other options for the same $, I have one I can swap in that is pretty fresh and nice and would make it a #s matching car. As is plainly stated in the ad, the 421 is not original to the car. If this was an original YK421HO car would I be selling it for $15k? No. There were only around 500 cars with that engine ever made.

This kind of BS is why I consider parting this or any car instead of dealing with people and their BS about cars. Thank you for your interest and kind words.

I don't give a hoot about the PHS- It's a beautiful car! And an incorrect 421 Tripower is way cooler than a correct 389 4bbl! If this thing is still available in a month when I close on the sale of one of my houses, it'll be hard to pass up!

I would have to agree. I don't think PHS does anything for this car. At the price you are asking, one could pull the 421, drop a 389 back in, swap the 3.42 for an open rear, snag some of the options and nice pieces since not an "Original" and still sell the car off for decent money. Looks like a steal of a deal to me and can understand your thoughts on parting it out..................kind of.

Where in VA is this car located? Does it have long-branch manifolds?

Car is south of Charlottesville and has all the 421 HO parts including the long branches. With 093s not currently being on the car.
