Yes, sent Robbmc a video of the mechanical fuel gauge bouncing all over. They said likely normal. They offered for me to send it in for testing. This is the third pump I've tried, and while the first 2 were stock units, it seems unlikely this third pump is bad. During the summer when it was 100f, I saw the clear fuel filter run dry after pulling into the driveway. I grabbed a water hose an ran cool water on the robbmc pump and watched the fuel filter immediately fill up. So likely heat from the fuel pump?

I tore everything out and went EFI. never looked back, so no I've never used one of these.

I've heard from several sources anecdotally that they work. There is a guy on YouTube with a first gen bird that drives the thing all over the country, often times towing other cars with it in pretty crazy weather. He's talked about using these to help keep the fuel cool and abate vapor lock and other fuel heating issues.

For $11 and five minutes time....I'd give it a shot.

Hell, I've tried everything else, why not? I will throw one on and test it. It's crazy that at 46f outside I still have the issue. I think it's a very long shot, but I've spent months on this. I will learn more than $11 worth either way. The engine in this weather runs 160f, thermostat opening temp. However, gas begins to boil at 90f, so 160f may cause it.

In fact, I will run the car to operating temps and measure the mech fuel pump temp. Then I will install and retest to see what real change in temp to the fuel pump with the insulator on that was realized.
