Default Ignition switch problem?

My ignition switch on the '70 GP tilt column doesn't return all the way to the "off" position. Is it a switch problem or something in the column??? I vaguely remember this being a problem for many GM cars back in the day, but I can't remember the solution.

It's possible both. The only way to fix is to check the cylinder lock with the key, or it's possible the ignition switch on the column. You should be able to see the Ignition Switch under the dash on the column. There should be a rod from key cylinder down to ignition switch.

Turned out to be the adjustment rod to the trans. I moved it about a 1/2" and everything works fine.

Thanks for the input!
