Yes, I understand your point now. Your use of the "semi-gloss" term concerned me, since my chart does say "flat(suede)", in that way. Some dash parts are semi-gloss, but not that forward upper dash metal. But you're right, I forgot about the textured surface that the paint additive you mentioned creates and I would not know how to replicate that with urethane paint, at this time(other than spraying it a little dry, intentionally creating some fine orange peel ).
Thanks for pointing out that it may still be available from PPG in a lacquer mix. Once again, that would be a nice detail for originality. I believe a flat finish would still be serviceable though, if someone was not as particular. |

My Progress
Hello everyone,
Been busy this summer, (family, vacations, home projects) so have not had a lot of time for the car, I did get all the old trunk out. It was a PITA to get out all those spotweld.

I then test fitted the new trunk. I was very impressed with this dynacorn sheet metal, It just dropped right into place.

I drew up some center trunk brackets with my favorite drawing program, Then I laser cut them out with an industrial laser, Then I bent them up with a press brake. The trunk brackets turned out great, Just like the originals, Here are some pictures of them, they get mounted in the center section of the trunk, The outside ones were on the trunk when I got it. I did show these brackets to a few people at TA Nationals, I think I'm going to make some other parts also since I have the resources.

Then I put the drivers door shell back on car so I have a reference for doing the LH quarter panel. As you can see door has lots of small dings, but was not rusty, I bought it from a guy in Arizona.

And here are some pictures of this weeks work, I have cut off the outer wheel house. Need to blast and primer everything. Also as you can see my trunk dropoff is qustionable as weather I should use it or not. I know these are impossible to find, might just have to fix what I have on the car.
