Default Prestite/Cork tape alternative

I need to affix the expansion valve bulb to the evaporator tube and hate to buy a 30' roll of the Prestite tape. Any alternatives? What about closed cell foam tape? I doubt there was such a thing when these bulbs were sealed the old style tape, opinions? I have a roll of a 6"x1/6 foam tape with adhesive on one side, thing it would work?

Maybe Old Air Products or Classic Air would sell you a smaller quantity.

I just sucked it up and bought a 30' roll for $16.50 on Amazon with some other stuff. Guess I can be generous with it.
