Default Social distancing.

Talking about population density and social distancing today. Some folks have an easier time than others. I have it easy.
Make a 1/2 mile, or for those using the metric system 800 Meters circle around your house. Now how many people live inside that circle? My number is 10.

I'm about the same density here. A little more crowded than I like, but I can deal with it...

How many of those are your family members?

In Illinois we had 4, 2 my family. A house 1/8th mile away. Next closest was over a mile away in any direction.

Now in Florida it's way too many.

But can go to places where there are none or very low.

I guess that my number would be higher, living downtown in one of North America's largest cities. But I still do not know of anyone in my extended family, neighborhood, or work community getting sick. I know the mailman, the local realtor, everybody.

Probably about 200. I live about 45 minutes from the Greenville Metropolitan census area and have policed in every jurisdiction between here and there. I know a lot of people and almost all the cops. I haven’t even heard of a local having it. Our Dept Of Health reported that the beds in my neighboring county were at 94% capacity and the hospital itself immediately said that was bull**** and that not only could it expand capacity and that its high occupancy was not just Covid related

Living in the suburbs I would have to guess min is close to 1000? However- in that 1/2 mile radius i only interact with 11 or 12 people

My density (hello, McFly !!!) if I drew a 1/2 mile circle around my house would be in the hundreds., maybe 1,000 (or more). When you're in a subdivision and the average sized lot is between 2500-3000 sq/ft that's how it is.

1/4, 1/3, 1/2 acre lots. Large areas of “woods”, a park, a utility line.......100. Maybe.

Either 4 or 6. Couple across the street we've spoken to 3 times in four years, they're nice but very private. They have 100+ acres and raise thoroughbred horses. Neighbors "next door" we enjoy as friends are on 50 acres. It's a 5 minute walk from each house to the other, might be out of the OP's criteria. We usually drive there.

PS we did a Samsclub run today, 75 mile round trip. Closest grocery is Walmart, 30 mile rt.

Lots of people all around me, I live in an urban area. Here's a satellite view of my neighborhood. Doesn't really matter though, the only time I'm around significant numbers of people is when I'm at a store.

I would guess about 25? Largely because there are one or two houses that look like they have about 8 people in them judging by the cars outside.

I live fairly rurally, Ive been thinking about trying to move a little closer to Bloomington. I like to eat out a lot, and get tired of the few restaurants in Bedford.

Full on city or even track home life isn't for me, but I like to live near a good size large town or small city. I call it the Chili's rule. If you have a Chili's franchise, the town is big enough.

my number is probably 50. I live in a subdivision where the minimum lot size is 3 acres.
Some of my neighbors have moved here in the last couple months and I have not met them yet (COVID).
But we are only 5 miles from major franchise shopping and restaurants so if I wanted to mingle with the general population ...... I could.

1/4 mile out of town road 8 houses on my road, we have 10+ acres 1 elderly couple across the street, but don’t really associate a hiya wave now and then relationship. We have more animals come around here then people. I order a lot of things on line, so we only go out once a week to get groceries and we do that at a time everyone else is home eating dinner.

I’m immune suppressed so we’ve kind of been living this way for a while now even before covid.

Car club met last nigth ar the outdoor Pavilion. No such masks. No such distance. I'm like the 2nd youngest there and the attitude is "we all been through more than you know, and we all gotta die of something". Nobody cares.
