Default Sunday Drive

Sunday was the first time I've stretched the old girl's legs this year...and only the second time in about 8~9 months. First drive since the Cliff's upgrades on the carb too and it was a blast!
It rained here several days last week and since I live on a dirt road, that means no dust. They also graded one day last week so no puddles of muddy water.
By the way, the carb rebuild and adding the choke back allowed me for the first time EVER to be able to start the car after a long period of sitting without pouring some gas down the carb.
It started with about 5 seconds of the starter.

NIce, I too live on a gravel road and understand 100%. Sounds like you need to drive her a little more this year.

Greg, Nice pic. That color with black vinyl top looks great.
Good that you got to take it for a drive.

That is a great Color Combo, I even like the wheels & the stance! Glad you got to enjoy the car and the Day.

Cliff does do great work as you can now attest!

Thank you all for the kind words. Yes, I really need to get her out more and I plan to.
The carb ran 'OK' already but it had gotten to the point where re-starting it hot caused erratic and rough idle. It's as smooth as silk now.
The really good thing about Cliff's carb work is that you don't have to send it to him. You can do it yourself. His book is just that good and easy to understand. He could have kept all that info to himself.
I have done three now but this is the first one I've actually done for my own driver. It's almost like fuel injection.

Even though it looks great in the pic, it's even better in person. Great car!

I'm not spending any money on fueling the other cars since I've been working from home, so I ponied up for some of the good stuff recently

My car doesn't need it, but it sure likes it.

Funny thing with the current state of things - I've been driving my car a lot more since I'm not sitting around at shows or trying to keep it clean for shows. As a result, I've been enjoying it a lot more!

Get that car out of the garage more, Greg! It's a beauty.

I paid $1.79 at Sam's Club that day for premium. I can't remember for sure but it's either 93 or 91. My car has always run fine on 87 which is what the mid grade is, but yeah, maybe it's just in my mind, but it does seem to love that premium....and yes, when your car is running great it's a lot more fun to drive it than to show it.
I do still enjoy the occasional cruise-in type gatherings but the best way to show it is to drive it!
I only know of one place near me that sells that 100 octane and they were closed on Sunday.

I run 95 octane non-ox gas in my 68 Lemans HO. I have my total advance set at 36 degrees and it will ping with 91 octane with a bottle of booster added, so I tried the straight 95 and she runs great with no ping and lots of power.. My motor is 320 hp, but feels more like 350 plus. The engine has 124,000 miles on it, never rebuilt....just timing chain and gears replaced. Stock except Summit cloth air cleaner element "K&N copy" in the original air cleaner...with lid flipped for more flow, Pertronix guts in the stock distributor, mandrel down tubes, tail pipes, and Dynomax mufflers. I will say this, after I had this exhaust system put on my car, it was NIGHT AND DAY difference in power.
