Very few pictures of the car and not much info supporting that it's anything special. Sitting a little high in the from. Needs some engine detailing.

Also not stating it's a 2+2. Just a '66 Catalina with the wood veneer.

Be pretty hard to duplicate those louvers in the rear quarters! This leads me to believe it's real. Did anyone else notice the neat radio block-off plate?

I think with a 2+2, it is really a wash as far as value goes 4-speed vs auto. The Turbo 400 was such a bulletproof and wonderful transmission, it doesn't drastically hurt the performance and value the way a Slim Jim does in the older models. As Jerry said, many as they get older may actually prefer the auto. I have owned both and personally much prefer the 4-speed. But the auto has a nicer looking, better integrated console than the 4-speed one. It's really up to what you want and the availability of all the parts needed to do a quality conversion. The long tail shaft Muncies are kind of hard to find, although nothing special other than the tail housing and main shaft. I would imagine, pedal assemblies, linkage, correct Hurst shifter, console and associated parts are hard to come by and expensive nowdays. A donor car would be a game changer on this deal.

This 66 auto, with tripower just sold at Mecum in Kissimmee for around 25k. You can't tell much from the pictures, but it from the descriptions above it looks to be between a 2 and a 3. Sold very well then IMO.

As for as converting an automatic to a 4 speed, a lot of us older folks are getting to where it's hard (if not impossible) to drive a manual shift car. I've been in the market for a reasonable priced 65-6 2+2 with an auto for a while now. They are not easy to find unless you want a project. I'm over projects!
That 66 does look like a 2+2 but of course could have been made up. But the 2+2 specific stuff all seems to be there. The specific seat vinyl pattern is correct for a 2+2, the dash insert says "Pontiac " in block letters, a Catalina would say "Catalina" in script, the rear quarter louvers of course and the door panels all look correct for a 2+2. The wood grain is wrong of course. 66's had their own unique body style code for the 2+2 so it would be easy to verify, unless they changed the VIN too.

Update. Car is in my garage. Plans are to put the car back to factory stock. Have the numbers matching motor and fresh rebuild on the engine stand. 90% of the original equipment comes with the car in boxes. Plus most of the paperwork from early on.

Love the 2+2's especially the 421 HO's.

Can you post the billing history card?

Same color combo as the one I owned back in the 80's. Biggest difference is that mine was a 4 speed.

On the PHS. What was highlighted if your car came with the Manifold Vacuum gauge?

I think all 2+2's came with a Vacuum Gauge as a standard part of the package in which case it would not have a specific highlighted line.

Just the same as a '65 Grand Prix had the vacuum gauge as standard so its not listed separately. I think?????
