1962 GP Dome light switch
The dome lights as well as the light in the rear of my console won’t turn off. I don’t see any door switches. Are there door switches? I’m thinking the headlight switch is bad. Rotating the headlight switch does nothing. Thanks

Take out the Phillips screws to the panels covering the hinges in the jamb. In there will be switches. Something is grounding out keeping the lights on.

Also, if I recall correctly, the headlamp switch doesn't operate the dome lamp. As I recall there is a separate knob, I think to the right of the column, that's labeled and operates the "courtesy lamps". Try turning that.

On your '62, the dash switch located to the right of the cigar lighter operates only the under dash lights. The switch on the back of the consul operates the dome lights & the consul light. Make sure it's to the right or the lights will stay on when the door is closed. The headlight switch does nothing for the interior lights. If the lights stay on when the door is closed & the switch is to the right, then you have a ground problem.

The switches. The dome light above the door had a switch that I didn’t see. Also to me sliding a switch to the right should be on but the console switch is off to the right if the door is closed.

Yeah, I forgot about those switches. One thing for sure about 62's, there was no shortage of courtesy lamp control. LOL

LOL
The old days when the amount of switches and ash trays were popular. Fast forward 40 years and cup holders rule the world. |
